SELF-INITIATED PROJECTS

We are huge believers in the power of self-initiated projects.

It’s a tried and tested practice that we’ve stuck to since 2012, allowing ourselves time to try new things, bring ideas to life and be creative, free from restrictions that can sometimes come with client work.

It’s benefits are numerous. It often leads to new projects with clients who see visual examples of what is possible. It also increases our own skillset, as new techniques and ideas are practised and perfected along the journey. These benefits are always passed on to our clients, who love to see our latest ideas and get to see tangible results from the personal projects that we share online.

THE MIFA ALBUMs

The MIFA (Missing in the Football Album) was a project we first organised back in 2018. It featured 200+ artists (including ourselves), who took on the challenge of illustrating every player that featured at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but wasn’t included in the official sticker book. We repeated the project for the women’s World Cup in 2019 and did it again in 2020, with a new twist to raise money for foodbanks in the UK.

LFC POSTCARDS

Over the past 10 years, we’ve produced over 100 different illustrated postcards, officially licensed by Liverpool FC. Each one is based on a game from the clubs history and sold in different sets, including the Istanbul anniversary collection, the Steven Gerrard collection and the title winning collection of 2019.

PELÉ - A GAME OF TWO HALVES

“Pelé - A game of two halves” is currently a work in progress, but as it stands, it’s an A0 canvas, digitally printed with actual newspaper cuttings from the day of his death applied to create a mixed media piece. The image is made up of news articles and references to the life and career of Edson Arantes do Nascimento better known by his nickname Pelé, who despite arguably being the greatest footballer of all time, wasn’t without his controversies. The piece aims to combine media, both positive and negative to form the image, as a reminder that humans are complex, even the best of us.

GOLDEN BOOT POSTER

As the 2014 World Cup arrived, we wanted to create a visual celebration of the previous winners of the Golden Boot - the individual award, given to the top scorer of each competition since 1930. So we produced a gold foiled poster, featuring every goal scored by the tournament’s top scorers over the past 84 years.

JUMPERS FOR GOAL POSTS

In 2018, we created a series of humourous illustrated Instagram posts based on our own experiences of playground football. The series was so popular, we released it as a printed book, ideal for anyone who shared our experiences of football during school break times!
