Case Study: Transforming Saracens Rugby Players into Superheroes for "The Showdown 4" Event

Client: Saracens Rugby Club

Challenge

Our task wa to ensure that "The Showdown 4" resonated profoundly with fans. The goal was twofold: to create marketing materials that promoted an unforgettable, family-friendly experience and, crucially, to drive ticket sales by generating hype around the event.

Approach

We proposed a dynamic concept that would infuse a superhero, comic book ambiance into the event. We envisioned the players as superheroes, showcasing their extraordinary power, skill, speed, and elite performance on the field. This concept aimed to captivate the imagination of fans and create a buzz leading up to the event.

ANIMATED ENDBOARDS

We produced animated endboards and social assets, enabling Saracens to sign off on any marketing collateral with a branded piece of content that kept the campaign on brand.

Execution

We embarked on a comprehensive illustration process, partrnering with a professional comic book illustrator to meticulously render ten key players in various action poses. Each player was given a distinctive glowing area representing their specific "Superpower," rooted in their real-life strengths. These illustrations were then incorporated into a series of retro comic book-inspired covers, prominently featuring match details and player illustrations. The designs were strategically applied across digital platforms, including social media, the club's website, and partner websites.

Results

  • Increased online engagement: The campaign generated heightened levels of interaction on social media platforms, effectively drawing attention to the event and driving ticket sales.
